Now that the weather is starting to warm up, it’s time to start lessons or get back into a regular routine. Did you know that we offer discount lesson packages?
- Bulk Lesson Discount: Purchase 10 lessons and get one free. This is a great deal for committed students!
- Gift Package: Purchase 4 lesson gift certificates and receive a free stuffed horse keychain or other horsey-themed prize. This is a fun deal for the younger riders in your life and makes a great birthday gift or reward for good grades!
Even if the weather surprises us, we have a covered arena for rainy days and a lighted arena for evening lessons!
Horsey folks! Cindy Adcock, an English saddle fitter from County Saddlery, will be at Hillside Stables on Wednesday, September 17 in the afternoon and evening. Please get in touch with Lisa for her phone number. The more people that sign up, the lower the trip charge will be!
At Hillside Stables we have been busy planning trail challenge obstacles for our Second Annual Trail Challenge Practice and Competition (with Equine Costume Contest)! We had so much fun planning, hosting, and participating in this event last year and are please to do it again this fall.
The event will be on Sunday 26 October 2014, so mark your calendars! We will have registration forms and further details posted to the Trail Challenge page soon, so check back later.
Here are a few pictures of last years obstacles during preparation. Have you been practicing on the obstacles that were difficult?
The “Can Man”
Almost finished teeter totter
Perhaps the short lengths of hoses are not as “spooky” as anticipated…
Many of our students (and trainers!) have out-of-town holiday plans, so Lisa has scheduled time this week to squeeze in make-up lessons before the holiday craziness sets in. Lisa will be available on the following dates for the rest of the month: Thursday (12th), Saturday (14th), Sunday (15th), Tuesday (17th), and Thursday (19th), to make up for the two weeks she will be visiting family (21 December to 3 January). If you can’t make it out for a make-up lesson this week, schedule a ground school lesson with PK while Lisa is on vacation.
Our new online lesson scheduling system is up and running! We’ve worked out the kinks and it is working great. Use it to schedule your next lesson with PK, Lisa, or Michelle!
We had a fabulous turn out for lessons and our weekly Evening Ride on Thursday! Join us next week for a lovely evening at Hillside; the outdoor arena is lighted so we can ride during dusk and after dark. We always have a blast! Don’t forget, we also have online scheduling for lessons now: http://hillsidestables.appointy.com/ Check it out today!
“Contact” seems to be a mysterious, elusive term that is thrown around but rarely discussed. What is contact? How does one achieve contact with one’s horse? Gail Hoff-Carmona’s article, “Ask the Experts: Correct Dressage Contact” in Dressage Today offers some answers.
Dressage Today recently published a great article, The Art of Classic Dressage Training, by Dr. Josef Knipp. Knipp’s essay is a lovely essay reminder all riders, regardless of discipline, why we ride horses and what should be valued in every style of riding.
Hey folks! Lisa is finally back in town and will start teaching lessons again on Saturday, 17 August. Get in touch with her to schedule your lesson!
Katherine took her lesson on Jake today! And BonBon got an instructor ride. All did great. They even had to rangle around the ground school class of four that PK was teaching. The day continued with Michelle and PK in a group lesson and later Leo got a visit from his family. Good day….
Lisa has returned from training in Kansas and cannot wait to share what she learned about suppling, collection, and lateral work. Have you set up your next lesson with her yet?
